Time is running out to stop climate change

More than a hundred bikers toured Iloilo today to launch the “yoU-Turn the Earth” campaign, marking the 100-day countdown to the Climate Change Summit in Copenhagen, where governments will agree on a deal to combat Climate Change. Greenpeace is asking developed nations to commit to substantial carbon emissions reductions and to set up a climate change mitigation fund for countries like the Philippines that are most vulnerable, least prepared. The advocacy ride was organized by Greenpeace, Solar Generation Pilipinas, and Responsible Ilonggos for Sustainable Energy (RISE). Click here to read more

Greenpeace: Clean Production needed to rehabilitate Manila Bay

Greenpeace is recommending that government pursue Clean Production, and not just tackle the most obvious problems, if it is sincere in its efforts to rehabilitate Manila Bay. Greenpeace reiterated that a large part of issues like solid waste and raw sewage will be addressed if root causes are dealt with.

Kogelo , Kenya — Barack Obama’s grandmother now has solar panels on the roof of her home in Kenya, compliments of Greenpeace.

Greenpeace Solar Generation Activists and local youth organisers installed the panels on “Mama Sara’s” home, and also put panels on the Senator Barack Obama School in Kogelo. Click here to read more

Negrenses rally to preseve the country’s organic farming capital

Greenpeace volunteers unfurl a banner during a protest in front of the Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol to press members of the Sangguniang Panglalawigan (SP) to uphold the ban on GMOs. Greenpeace is encouraging the Provincial Council to look into real solutions like organic farming, instead of unreliable, unproven techno fixes like agrochemicals and GMOs, to address food security and safeguard public health. Negros sustainable agriculture under attack

The Philippines is in danger of losing its organic farming capital because a provincial ordinance promoting sustainable agriculture is under attack. Greenpeace issued the warning today as a series of deliberations are launched in Negros Occidental which could repeal a landmark provincial ordinance aimed at transforming Negros Island into the premier organic food bowl of Asia.
